In order to achieve their goal of adding value to customers, Höganäs must be on the leading edge of supply chain technology. They have found that by focusing beyond their internal processes and improving the level of information exchange in their supply chain they can eliminate an amazing amount of waste. Using Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) with their customers they have added automated intelligence to their supply chain and achieved outstanding results. For example, their first customer came onboard the system in mid November 2006 and by January 2nd had already lowered inventory by 40%.
